President Abdel-Fattath El-Sisi issued directives to ministers on Saturday to proceed with projects to develop ports to help them cope with the increase witnessed in the industrial and logistical services in Egypt.

El-Sisi's remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir and Damietta Governor Manal Mikhail.

The meeting tackled transforming Egyptian ports into green ones via intensifying cooperation between the transport and environment ministries and forming a technical task force with the aim of integrating the environmental dimension into all transport projects, presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said.

The meeting reviewed the business results of the committee tasked with upgrading the Damietta Port, in addition to measures taken by the Transport Ministry to maintain environmental safety at the port.

The president also asserted the importance of putting into consideration environmental standards in all current and new projects in line with the great importance attached by the State to the people’s health and improving their environmental, health and living standards.

Meanwhile, El-Sisi gave orders to continue development works of the Cairo Metro as per the state-of-the-art standards and specifications.
