Arab League human rights committee's 46th session kicks off in Cairo
CAIRO, July 30 (MENA) - The 46th session of the Permanent Arab Committee on Human Rights kicked off Tuesday at the premises of the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo. The head of the committee, Osama el Zeweh, chairs the three-day session that will bring together heads and senior representatives of human rights watchdogs in the Arab countries. Arab human rights officials and experts will discuss various topics placed on the agenda of the session, including violations committed by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories. The revival of the Arab Human Rights Day, as well as developing phased plans for the Arab regional human rights strategy will figure high during the talks. The current meeting ensues the endorsement during the previous session of the committee, which was held in Tunisia in March, of the Arab regional human rights strategy and the Arab declaration on the duty and responsibility of civil society organizations to enhance and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms.
