Egypt Law : Crime Rehabilitation


Any person convicted of a crime or misdemeanor may be rehabilitated. A relevant sentence shall, upon the request of the person convicted, be issued from the Criminal Court having jurisdiction over the area where the place of residence there of is located

For rehabilitation to be valid, the following shall apply:

1) The punishment must have been fully executed, pardoned or expired as a result of the period of prescription.

2) A six-year period must have elapsed as of the time of execution of the punishment or pardon therefrom, if the punishment is for a crime, or a three-year period, if the punishment is for a misdemeanor.

The period of time shall be doubled in cases of return offenders and expiration of the period of prescription.
